You swing wildly between hatred and apathy and somehow come across as both approachable and extremely narcissistic. The whole thing reads like an op-ed written by someone who is deeply annoyed to be here and fully convinced he should be in charge of everything. I will read anything you publish.
Low-key this is the kind of political commentary. I need in my life. This had me rolling multiple times. I was rolling on the ground just dying laughing. Dude I don’t even live in New York. I don’t even have skin in the game, but I have to stay updated on what’s going on in the world and I feel so much more updated now.
I grew up reading the call of cthulhu. Ironically again, someone else came up with my name for me and I just decided to go with it. But yeah, he is a paranoid racist most likely maybe undiagnosed autism, combined with schizophrenia (just wild tall guy in general) he was just the town crazy basically he was so out there the other racists/bigots were like get this fucking dude away from us. If the rumor is crazy enough based on what I know, it is most likely true. Just based on my limited knowledge/research on him. He is certified fucking insane.
The rumor I heard is that all the topics he talked abt Cthulhu etc are all real and that he was writing books that would expose the truth abt these agents of chaos and then he was killed by people who worshipped those gods or whatever they are and then they took his works and subverted it and published it as fiction to get the heat off them
You have a way of writing that makes me think you're pretty based but also an idiot and that's pretty cool. You have my vote to become dictator of NYC but I think the Manhattan-mites getting Daddy's rent money should be allowed to move to Staten Island as an experiment to see how racist they get.
Fun piece. A bit performative but entertaining nonetheless. Many of the points you raise could apply to any major tier 1 city though, not specifically New York but still valid in several cases
in my experience when the most basic person from ur hometown decides they want to move to a tier 1 city its almost always nyc and never LA, san diego, or miami which is what i would characterize as “tier 1 cities” in the US (i dont like LA personally but thats whatever)
I think it depends where people are moving from. Anything east coast and parts of the Midwest go to NYC. Most Midwest go to Chicago but can be debated if it’s a tier 1. South go to Miami, a lot of people end up in LA that are middle of the country and west.
I loved chicago and lived there for a year but it’s solidly tier 2. you have the south wrong though. I’m from Tennessee and went to Alabama for school and almost no one I knew moved to Miami (except me). If you’re southern/sec coded and wanna make the switch to a big city it’s almost always NYC. Or they go to some slop city like austin. West ya I can see that

New York’s the biggest example of it imo
