Anthony bourdain

I was talking to my friend the other day abt AB (back when there was a twitter meme abt being impulsive using his face). Now he started slandering him which I found interesting bc he’s pretty universally glazed so I obviously had to dig deeper to get to the root of the issue. I personally like bourdain bc his episode where he went to Iran was the first time I had seen the country my family’s from portrayed on tv without it being accompanied by calls to nuke the entire land to dust so I think I got a little defensive but his final point was so unhinged it deserves to be spoken abt.

He said “I genuinely believe he killed himself for a legacy angle he wanted to be the Kurt cobain of the food channel”

his initial point honestly may be even funnier: “He’s like if Gordan Ramsey and bill Maher had a gay son that did acid once in high school”

Both of those statements are bars unfortunately but his larger point was just him being upset that bourdain peddled a lifestyle that preached giving up your perceived societal responsibilities and doing whatever u want. Which I think can strike the wrong nerve w people who view that life as unattainable for themselves. And while I do think that is true for some (people who have responsibilities tO provide for those close to them) I think a lot of people overestimate the hurdle you have to clear to abscond to Thailand and eat fried grasshoppers in a market while slugging 1 million 50 cent beers before you stumble into a dimly lit back room at a bar where you’re met with several austere looking men playing cards and then just see where the night goes from there. Idk I’ve coped out of it too so I’m not the authority on this subject but in practice it seems like u can do it if u want to.

His other hypothesis was that bourdain was killed by the Hollywood elites who were scared that he was gonna expose them for underground pedophilia rings which is theory I’ve heard before but don’t know much about.

Idk the convo stagnated quickly bc I sent him a tweet abt Luka doncic being a fat alcoholic which got us talking abt Slavs, Russia, and the Rwandan genocide.
