20$+ activities

I was talking to my friends wife a while ago when she was in town visiting and her and my friend were tryna think of fun things for them to do while she was there. So she obviously went on TikTok and looked up fun activities in Nashville.

ok before we get into the rest of the post I wanna point out how crazy it is that TikTok so easily and effectively overtook google as the de facto search engine for questions like that. Any search that requires the answer to be topical or timely ur so much better off going to TikTok than google it’s actually unreal. I’m gonna make a separate post abt this but it’s genuinely so crazy to me that google just got completely lapped in this regard.

But back to the main point of the article. The first video she clicked on was titled “Nashville date ideas for under $20” and she watched for a second before swiping to the next video but not before saying “I don’t even want to do anything if it costs less than $20”.

and I won’t lie. At first In my head I was like “that’s a crazy thing to say” but then I thought more abt it and realized she’s right. Literally what the fuck can u do that’s genuinely fun and also gets u out of the house that’s less than 20$? I don’t think it exists anymore. U can stay in and have a wholesome movie night or cook w ur wife or if ur dad was a high powered corporate legend like his was u can chill by the pool. But if ur wife is visiting and u want to leave ur house w her and do something that is actually enjoyable ur spending more than 20.

the only activity i can really think of is if u take her to ur country club. I’m not old money enough (in this country at least) to have a country club membership but in theory u can take ur wife there and put it on the member number and go to town. Other than that u r cooked.

Ok so I just went and found the TikTok and now I’m gonna review what was suggested to do by how much I wouldn’t want to do it.

1. puttshack: mini golf is already an affront to the game of golf and then u make it indoor with dumb LED lights. Also it’s 14 per person so ig it counts but not really for a date. Also that includes no food and drinks and u can’t have ur wife thinking ur a pov (pov as in poverty not “point of view”) so that’s cooked. 1/10

2. Frothy monkey coffee class: this one’s free so good start there ig. Idk I’ve always just thought the whole taking a class thing w ur SO is kinda dumb. Like I don’t wanna sit in a room w other people and learn abt coffee. Or I don’t wanna sit in a kitchen w a bunch of other couples as we all cook a nice meal together. Either stay at home and do it urself or go to a restaurant and just buy it like a normal person. 5/10 I don’t know enough abt coffee to hate more than this

3. Ole Smokey moonshine tasting: 15$ a person so ya ig whatever. Idk just like w classes I don’t get tastings like this. Just go to a bar and get drunk. what are u gaining by drinking a mid distillery’s mid liquor out of a mid tiny plastic shot glass. Like if it was a super nice distillery I get it. If it was a super nice vineyard I get it. But then it’s not under 20$ so. 4/10. I just don’t really like ole smokey

4. Lane motor museum: honestly looks pretty cool and if u and ur SO are into cars I could see yall having fun there. I personally wouldn’t give a shit and I don’t think I’ve ever been w a girl who would either but if it’s ur thing this’ll play. 6/10

5. Olive and Sinclair chocolate factory tour: Ok so this is 8$ each and is a chocolate factory tour. I don’t care for sweets but if u and ur wife do this could actually be something interesting. I would never go personally tho. 6.5/10

6. Tennessee state museum: free. Idk I’ve lived here basically all my life I already know what I need to know. And if my wife was from out of the state I don’t think she needs to learn abt fucking Ernest tubb or dolly parton. Like dollys cool But museums like that that lack an aesthetic cohesiveness to the image they’re curating are lost on me. I’d rather sit and watch a documentary than have to walk around and read tiny plaques. 2/10

7. Parthenon: why the fuck do we have a Parthenon in Nashville Tennessee

So that was the list. I may just be a hateful Person idk but none of those things were anything that I would ever do w my wife if she was visiting and we had limited time together. So my friends wife was correct, nothing under $20 is worth doing.

now if ur wife lives in the same city ya go to the park w her like u can do free shit. I had to make this caveat bc I could already imagine the miserable worms crawling out to be like “well actually I had a really fun day w my girlfriend this one time at Percy priest park” I don’t give a shit. If ur wife is visiting u don’t take her to fucking puttshack take her to a nice restaurant u pleb.

this post has no cohesiveness anymore bc of the fact that I realized that I actually do enjoy parkmaxxing and now feel like my point is somewhat moot but I’m sticking to not editing anything so I’m ending it here.
